Centre to become partner in Leverhulme International Network.
Steering Committee member Professor Mike Braddick has secured a prestigious research grant to establish an international network of scholars who will study the comparative history of political engagement in Western and African democracies. The new network brings together historians and social scientists affiliated to the Centre for the Study of Democratic Culture in Sheffield, the ANR-funded CONFLIPOL network based at the Universite du Maine in France, and a cluster of scholars linked to Professor Alois Mlambo at the University of Pretoria in South Africa. The grant, worth £122,000, will allow the network to hold a series of workshops and conferences over a 3-year period beginning in Sept/Oct 2010. |
